Event Information: York Peoples assembly #York says: NO MORE CUTS

On Wednesday 27th May, the Queen will officially open Parliament and announce Cameron’s plans for this year. York Peoples assembly is planning a response…
Capture11

On Wednesday 27th May, Cameron’s full plans for the year ahead will be revealed in the Queen’s Speech. Everything so far points to plans to cutback not just budgets, but also our rights and our dignity. There might be some sweeteners for the better-off, but it all looks pretty grim. We know that, in the sixth richest country on the planet, none of this is inevitable – its not a time to stay silent!

Gather at 5pm outside York Art Gallery on Weds 27th May

We want to fill exhibition square with people discussing ideas for a better future and how to stop the Tory nightmare. We’ll have an ‘open megaphone’ and a chance for people to write down their ideas. Its our chance to get together and refuse to be silenced into isolation. Dozens of protests are being called in cities across Britain, with thousands turning out in Bristol, Sheffield and more. We have to remind the government, and the media, that only a third of voters backed this government.

And if you’re a Facebook user, you can join up and invite people to the event page?
