The Post Office has decided to change the Post Office on 95 Mickegate (YO1 6LE) to one of their new main style branches. Their aim is to create a more modern and convenient retail experience for customers that will also incur longer opening hours on Saturdays. The new-look Post Office is schedules to open at the current location on Saturday 15 April 2017 at 13:00 – it will need to close for refurbishment on Tuesday 04 April 2017 at 17:30.
The new Post Office opening hours will be Monday to Saturday 8:30 to 17:30. The new Post Office will have the same wide range of products and services with a wider selection of on demand travel money and a low level serving counter and a hearing loop for better accessibility.
Cllr Lars Kramm said, “With Post Offices closing up and down the country and Micklegate ward has already been hit by the loss of two other post office branches at Albemarle Road and Bishopthorpe Road in the last ten years, I am glad the refurbishment is a clear commitment of the Post Office to its current location and the services to our local community in Micklegate.”
